Special Events

The Cowichan Community Centre offers many different community events throughout the year. Some of our highlighted events include our Family Day Celebration, Caleb Kroffat Memorial CPR & AED Training, Christmas Chaos Arts & Craft Market, Winter Wonderland Skate, and New Year’s Eve Celebration. We also partner with local community organizations to offer special events. Some of our past partnership events included Cultural Connections Activity Night in partnership with Cowichan Intercultural Society.

BC Youth Week Logo BC Youth Week is a provincial celebration of youth, held annually from May 1 – 7. This week of fun-filled interaction and celebration is intended to build a strong connection between youth and their communities. This event is intended to highlight the interests, accomplishments, and diversity of youth across the province. Join us for this week full of FREE events. We would like to thank our Community Partners for helping make our Youth Week activities possible: Cowichan Performing Arts Centre; Cowichan Valley Arts Council; Portofino Bakery; Thrifty Foods; Vancouver Island Regional Library.

Friday \| May 1 1:00 – 4:00pm	CVAC: Youth Art & Chill Cafe Ages 13 – 18 Spend your afternoon out of school, in creative space with mixed media art. Get your supplies from the supply bar and enjoy the chill atmosphere with friends or solo. Experienced artist volunteers will be present to offer support. Bring your sense of adventure and try something new in the company of peers. This program is generously sponsored by Our Cowichan Community Health Network. 3:30-5:30	Youth Drop-in Sports Ages 13 – 18 Come join us in the gym for open gym time, snacks and a ton of fun! Cowichan Community Centre – MPH
7:00 -9:00 pm	CPAC: Youth Week – Soundcheck ‘26: A Youth Variety Show Come on out to our second annual Youth Variety Show as part of BC Youth Week. Our brand-new Youth Committee has been calling all the shots to put on a show-stopping performance! This night of talent is designed, performed, and stage-managed by students aged 12 – 18. Saturday \| May 2 1:30 – 2:30 pm	Youth Week – VIRL presents the Escape Room Ages 12 – 18 Join VIRL for the Escape Room. See if you can solve the clues and puzzles to crack the code and escape before the clock runs out. Grab your friends and join us for a afternoon of fun. Pizza will be provided. VIRL Meeting Room

Wednesday \| May 6 11:40 am – 12:25 pm	Lunchtime BBQ at Quw’utsun Secondary School QSS students are invited to join Cowichan Community Centre and our Community Partners for free hotdogs and snacks over lunchtime to wrap up this year’s BC Youth Week Celebrations. Mark you calendars for the 46th annual Christmas Chaos Arts & Craft Market. With over 120 vendors, Santa’s Workshop, food trucks, entertainment, and raffles, there’s sure to be something for everyone. Christmas Chaos features a wide range of unique products including; home décor, specialty foods, baked goods, pottery and art, fabric and fibre designs, clothing, jewelry, beauty and body care products, local wine and spirits, and of course holiday decorations.
