Land Use Services

Overview

Land Use Services provides community planning, strategic planning, development services, building inspection, bylaw enforcement, dog control and environmental services within CVRD electoral areas.  The department also serves the region as a whole, providing economic development and parks services to electoral areas and the municipalities of North Cowichan, Duncan, Ladysmith and Lake Cowichan. Divisions within Land Use Services work collaboratively to support population growth and development within the region, while protecting community quality of life and the health of the environment.

Building Inspection & Bylaw Enforcement Division

This Division is responsible for building permit applications, building inspections (including Gulf Islands) and enforcing bylaws throughout the electoral areas. Community Planning Division

This Division is responsible for the long range land use planning for the electoral areas. For more details, and contact information, click here

Development Services Division

This Division is responsible for development enquiries (e.g. zoning), accepting and processing a number of development applications including development permits, rezoning applications and subdivision referrals.
