The gym is where it all begins for most athletes, and Cowichan’s indoor facilities are at the heart of our sports scene, hosting everything from gymnastics to box lacrosse, basketball and martial arts, to bowling, wheelchair sports and roller derby.
The Shawnigan Lake Community Centre gym is 77ft x 60ft, has sport court flooring and capacity is up to 400. Badminton, basketball, floor hockey, gymastics, volleyball, box lacrosse and martial arts all take place here. There are several meeting rooms of various sizes available. The Multi Purpose Hall at the Cowichan Community Centre measures 10,500 square feet and is the site for many of the region’s major indoor sports tournaments. Features include six pickleball courts, sport court flooring, a sport clock and a sound system. An additional 3,000 sq. ft.is available in the Heritage Hall which hosts gymnastics and fitness classes. More information can be found on Cowichan Community Centre Facility Rental page.

Duncan Dynamics Gymnastics is home to a leading Zone 6 Competitive Gymnastics Team. With over 30 athletes ranging from Level 1 to Level 10, athletes regularly bring home not only medals and ribbons, but also choreography awards. Duncan Gymnastics also has an Interclub team which allows girls the chance to compete without the pressure of being scored against other athletes. This historic, beautifully maintained four lane bowling alley takes you back to the 1950s. It is the only handset five and ten pin bowling alley in Canada, and is located on the shores of stunning Cowichan Lake, about 40 minutes west of Duncan. There is seating for 38.
