Celebrate Valentine’s Day at the Cowichan Lake Recreation Centre! Join us to create your own handmade cards for friends and family. All supplies are provided, just bring your school class list and get ready for some creative fun!
Each session begins with a fun doodle warm-up before introducing the main project. Activities include painting, drawing, and hands-on creations. Most classes feature a new project, while some may continue over multiple sessions.
Wrap up the week with friends and fun! Every Friday, kids can join our after-school group for activities and creative projects. It’s a great way to build skills and make connections.
This is an introduction of noncompetitive team play and will support development of individual skills, pushing the boundaries of each child’s ability and motor skills. The kids will enjoy a variety of sports and activities including soccer, hockey, basketball,
football, racquet sports, volleyball and lots of games, obstacle courses and races. The emphasis will be on teamwork and sportsmanship.
This fun, fast-paced, indoor hockey style game is easy to learn and great for all ages and skill levels. Players use lightweight sticks and a plastic ball, making it a safe and active way to build teamwork, coordination, and fitness. Whether you’re brand new
to the game or already love hockey, Floorball is a perfect way to stay active and have fun with friends right in your community.
Come join the fun and learn one of the fastest-growing sports in the world! This beginner-friendly program introduces kids to the basics of the game through engaging drills, skill building activities, and plenty of playtime. Participants will learn proper paddle grip, serving, scoring, and court movement, all in a supportive and active environment. No experience or equipment needed, just bring your energy and get ready to play!
Here’s a chance for kids and parents to come and practice skills for different games or just burn off some energy. Children under 6 must be accompanied by an adult.
Each session of this fun and supportive league begins with 15 minutes of instruction to help kids learn the basics of bowling and improve their skills, followed by a game with their peers. Parent participation may be required, making it a great opportunity for families to enjoy the sport together in a relaxed and encouraging environment.
Perfect for beginners or young bowlers to have fun, make friends, and build confidence on the lanes! Shoe rentals included.
Sign up for these eight-week programs instructed by volunteer curlers from the Cowichan Rocks Curling Club. Equipment is supplied (brooms, sliders, sticks, crutches).
Helmets are recommended but not supplied. Cowichan Rocks Curling has helmet options to purchase.
This program is designed to introduce your child to the fundamental movements of skating on ice and help them improve their skating in a fun and motivating way. Helmet, gloves and skates required, rentals skates available upon request.
Ages 4 – 5
Ages 6 – 17
Beginner figure skating helps children build confidence and coordination through foundational skills. Skaters will continue the fundamentals of balance, edges, forward/backward stroking, turns, spins and beginner jumps in a recreational figure skating
format to music. This program will take skaters to a level in which they can easily transition over to a Skate Canada Club and be at the Pre Preliminary level. Children must be able to complete Learn to Skate Level 3 skills before advancing. Sign up for one day per week by calling 250.749.6742 ext. 0
This hockey skills session provides a valuable opportunity for players to gain extra ice time while concentrating on the development of key hockey techniques. Through a variety of structured drills, participants will work on improving their skating, puck handling and shooting in a focused and supportive environment.

Being home alone can be uncomfortable and unsafe for a child if they are not prepared. This course will provide your child with the basic skills to stay home alone safely (and enjoy it). We will cover tips and real-life scenarios to engage and inspire
your child to be responsible and knowledgeable when home alone.
This educational program follows the Kid Proof guide to Babysitter’s Training.
We include first aid, household safety, behaviour management, child development, and dealing with strangers. We will also have some fun with games and activities that
every babysitter can use. This course includes a certificate upon completion. Participants must be 11 years old by the start of class.
This is a basic one-day course offering lifesaving first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for the workplace or home. Recognized by WorkSafeBC as
equivalent to Occupational First Aid Level 1.
