Weather Precautions – ALL PARKS & TRAILS

Park and trail users are reminded to use extra caution when walking through parks and trails during periods of high winds, heavy rain, or snowfall.

Weather conditions can increase the risk of:

  • Falling tree branches or uprooted trees
  • Slippery trails, bridges, and boardwalks
  • Reduced visibility
  • Flooding or muddy, unstable ground

To help keep yourself safe:

  • Avoid parks and forested trails during storms or severe weather
  • Stay alert of falling branches or leaning trees
  • Keep a safe distance from large trees during high winds
  • Turn back if trail conditions become unsafe
  • Follow any posted closures or warning signs

If you notice a hazardous condition, such as a fallen tree or damaged trail, please report it to Parks & Trails at parks@cvrd.bc.ca or 250-746-2660. Urgent after-hours park or trail maintenance issues should be reported to 1-855-781-9524.

Please note that CVRD offices at 175 Ingram Street will be closed for the holiday season from 2:00 PM on December 24, 2025, until Friday, January 2, 2026. Regular office hours (8:30 AM–4:30 PM) will resume on Monday, January 5, 2026. During this closure, all urgent park or trail maintenance issues should be directed to 1-855-781-9524.Read the official notice here.
