Home Services Utilities Sewer Systems Cowichan Bay Sewer
Cowichan Bay Sewer System is located in area D and services the community of Cowichan Bay and surrounding residential area. A total of 810 equivalent users are connected to the system, including both residential and commercial properties.
The Cowichan Bay Sanitary Sewer System consists of both gravity and pressurized collection systems discharging to a pump station located at Hecate Park. Sewage is pumped to the Joint Utilities Board (JUB) lagoons, located in Duncan, for sewage treatment and disposal.
At this time, there are currently no sewer units available for new developments within the Cowichan Bay Sewer Service Area.
Critical equipment is monitored 24-hours a day for malfunctions (such as pump failures); if such an abnormality occurs an alarm is sent to the on-duty pager to alert CVRD-staff for immediate response.
Current year budget information can be viewed here.
This system does not currently have capacity for any additional connections or inclusions, except in the event of failed septic systems. Please contact utilities@cvrd.bc.ca for more information. Further development would require developer-funded system upgrades to create additional capacity.
