Density bonusing is a land use planning tool that provides the developer with the option to build to a higher density in exchange for providing amenities or affordable housing. The Province has updated legislation to require a more detailed and transparent approach to amenities obtained through density bonusing in zoning bylaws.

The CVRD has density bonusing provisions in 12 zones within Electoral Areas B, C, D (Upland), E, F, G & H and is now required to update its bylaws to remove these provisions.
