Recycling Options Expand in 2023

The Recycle BC program is accepting more items than ever at curbside and Recycling Centres in 2023!

The following items can now be recycled in your curbside tote or brought to a CVRD Recycling Centre:

  • Plastic straws
  • Plastic utensils
  • Food storage containers
  • Plastic & paper disposable hangers
  • Plastic tape dispensers
  • Paper-based party decorations (such as streamers and party hats)
  • And more!

In addition to these new items, there is a new category called “flexible plastics” at Recycling Centres ONLY. This category replaces “Plastic Bags and Overwrap” and “Other Flexible Plastic Packaging,” which means that sorting your flexible plastic packaging is no longer required. The new combined category will include the following new items:

  • Plastic shrink wrap
  • Squishy/protective cushion packaging (polyethylene foam)
  • Plastic drop sheets
  • And more!
