About Parks and Trails in the Cowichan Valley
Welcome
The CVRD is characterized by a variety of natural and rural landscapes that are open to exploration. These landscapes range from open farmlands and extensive ocean coastlines within the southern region, to the cool mystic valleys of the Koksilah, Cowichan and Chemainus Rivers. The parks and trails of the Cowichan Valley region offer something for everyone to appreciate.
Parks & Trails is kicking off the holiday season with a festively themed colouring contest! Please see the guidelines below:
Submission Deadline:
All completed colouring sheets must be submitted by December 15, 2025, at 4:00 pm to be entered into the prize draw.
How participants can enter:
1. In Person (Reception):
- Participants may drop off their completed colouring sheet at CVRD Reception, 175 Ingram St.
- Please ensure the sheet includes the participant’s name, age, and phone number or email.
- The prize draw winner will be contacted using the information they provide.
2. Online (Social Media):
- A grownup can post a photo of the child’s completed colouring sheet on Facebook or Instagram.
- The post must tag @CVRDREC and be set to public so the entry can be seen.
- The winner will be contacted via direct message from the @CVRDREC account.

Important Notices
Bush Main, Trans-Canada Trail, and Christie Falls Loop - Notice of Thinning Activity
Mosaic Forest Management will begin thinning work along Bush Creek Main on October 1, 2025, until mid-December 2025. Bush Creek Main, the Trans-Canada Trail, and Christie Falls Loop will be closed Monday-Saturday while commercial thinning activities are underway. Public access is permitted only on Sundays. These closures protect the public from active forestry operations, and trail users are asked to follow posted signs and stay out of work zones.
Cowichan Valley Trail -
Construction
The West Shawnigan section of the Cowichan Valley Trail (CVT) located between Butler Rd and Sooke Lake Rd, will experience trail surfacing upgrades from November 10 to late November 2025. The trail will remain open to trail users during maintenance.
Cleasby Bike Park - Annual Winter Season Closure
The Cleasby Bike Park will be closed to public use for the winter season beginning November 3rd, 2025, and will re-open in Spring 2026.
