Addresses are assigned when a building permit is issued by the Building Inspection section. The permit application is sent to the GIS section to assign a civic address. This process helps ensure houses are built safely and to the current BC Building Code.

Maintaining a consistent addressing system is vital to ensuring public safety within the Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD). The CVRD provides up to date information to all emergency services. If your address is not in the CVRD's system, it is likely that it is not in the emergency services system either. Check to see if your address is in our system.
