Due to a recent very high rate of mechanical failure in our curbside collection trucks, we have had to delay or cancel curbside collection for several pickup routes this week.

On May 30, one of our trucks experienced a full engine failure and fire, which resulted in the truck being taken off the road as the engine is being rebuilt. On Wednesday June 8, our second truck experienced a leaf spring failure that will keep it out of operation until next week, and today, June 10, our third collection truck experienced a significant hydraulic line failure.

We understand that this is frustrating for our residents and we are working very hard to get our trucks back on the road. In the meantime, we must delay or cancel some of the scheduled collections for the next few days.

Please be aware of the following changes to the collection schedule:

• Pickup from Wednesday, June 8: was originally rescheduled to be collected on June 11 but this is no longer possible. Collection for that day has been cancelled and material will be collected on the next regular collection day, Wednesday, June 22.
• Pickup for Friday, June 10: this collection has been cancelled. The next pickup for this route will occur on Friday, June 17, when we will pick up both garbage and recycling.
• Pickup scheduled for Monday, June 13: this collection has been cancelled. The next pickup for this route will occur on the next regular collection day, Monday June 27

Please hang onto your material until the rescheduled collection day, when we will accept extra material in a clearly marked container. If you cannot wait for your next collection day, please bring your material to a Recycling Centre.
