Changes to CVRD Curbside Collection Services in Electoral Areas
The CVRD’s curbside collection program has been experiencing significant disruptions over the past several months due to ongoing mechanical failures in our aging collection fleet. To mitigate further curbside interruptions, the CVRD is implementing changes to the curbside program over the next few weeks.
To allow collection vehicles suitable repair and maintenance time, the CVRD is organizing a Saturday collection day to reduce the size of existing collection routes. The new Saturday service started in December 2022 and will remain in place until new curbside collection trucks arrive in 2024.
For more information about the changes to curbside collection, see the News Release.
Curbside Collection Schedule Update
To ensure that the workload is spread evenly across the new six-day collection week, some residents had their curbside pick-up day moved to another weekday, which included Saturday. Letters have been mailed out to affected addresses, outlining the next two collection dates under the current schedule and the first collection day on the new schedule.
Staff have sent out schedule reminders to all affected addresses using the Cowichan Recycles app. Would you like schedule notifications and reminders sent to your mobile phone, landline or email? Download the Cowichan Recycles app or visit https://www.cvrd.ca/3507/Collection-Schedules
