About the Board
Overview
As a local government, the CVRD deals with local issues on a region-wide perspective, as well as administering the local functions for the unincorporated areas, directed by locally elected officials.Through the Regional District, the local governments work together to provide and co-ordinate services in both urban and rural areas.
Directors
Two types of directors make up the CVRD Board of Directors:- Electoral Area Directors are elected directly by rural area voters and serve four-year terms.
- Municipal Directors are first elected to a municipal Council and are then appointed by the Council to the Cowichan Valley Regional District Board.
Director Position Descriptions
To help provide clarity on the role of a Director, position descriptions were developed by the Director Services Select Committee and endorsed by the Board in March, 2020.
