Elsie Miles Park/Dougan Park
The kids are sure to have a great time at Elsie Miles Park/Dougan Park in beautiful Shawnigan Lake (Electoral Area B). Dougan Park surrounds the Shawnigan Lake Community Centre and offers short walking trails and a well-equipped playground that is completely enclosed with a fence for safety. Elsie Miles Park consists of the open field adjacent to the former Elsie Miles School which is the site of the new park improvements to take place over the next few years. The Shawnigan Pavilion was constructed in 2017 and can be booked through the Shawnigan Community Centre.
Dougan Park was expanded in 2021 with a new park acquisition to the North allowing for a parking area and access to the Trail along the railway and waterfront that links Shawnigan Wharf Park to Masons Beach Park.

Dougan Park was acquired by the CVRD in 1989 and the Shawnigan Lake Community Centre was constructed in 1991. An adventure playground was installed in 2006 and a network of trails were built linking Shawnigan Lake Road to the community centre.
In 2013/2014 the adjacent Elsie Miles School site and the former community hall building were also acquired by the CVRD and renamed "Elsie Miles Park" which will be developed as the hub of the Shawnigan Lake community providing a public gathering space with additional park amenities. In 2015 the old Shawnigan community hall was deconstructed, the site leveled and grass-seeded. Through public consultation and community meetings over a 2 year period a final conceptual plan for the Elsie Miles Park site was completed that integrates a variety of community uses. In 2021 additional land was acquired to the North of Dougan park to accommodate a parking lot, grassy picnic area, and access to the waterfront trail along the railway that links Masons Beach Park and Shawnigan Wharf Park.
