Saltair Centennial Park is a 5.85 hectare community park located in Electoral Area G – Saltair/Gulf Islands, between South Oyster School Road and Mountain View Drive.
The park was first established in 1984 and had various additions over the years. In 2014, the former Mount Brenton School property was acquired and is now known as the Saltair Community Centre. The park has been built up over the years with various park amenities:
- the playground was replaced in 2009
- picnic shelter (2000)
- north parking lot (1999)
- roller hockey court (1998)
- concession and washroom building (1991)
- playground was established in the 1990’s
- tennis courts were built in late 1980’s
As park users change over time and these park amenities are reaching their lifespan, decisions will need to be made in the next few years on whether to replace existing amenities with newer versions or change them out for different amenities. In 2018, Saltair Centennial Park had over 28,600 visitors to the park which will continue to grow annually as more people wish to spend their time outdoors.
