The Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD) is pleased to report that the most recent water quality testing in the Burnum Water system confirms arsenic levels are well below the Maximum Allowable Concentration (MAC) set by Health Canada.
A sample collected on December 3, 2025, showed an arsenic concentration of 3.69 ppb in the distribution system, significantly lower than the MAC of 10 ppb.
This result indicates that the water currently being supplied to residents meets all regulatory standards for safety and quality. The system had previously experienced an exceedance in early November resulting in immediate follow-up sampling and notification protocols implemented at that time. Corrective actions and enhanced monitoring have been put in place to ensure continued compliance and transparency.
Ongoing Measures Include:
- Increased arsenic sampling frequency
- Requests for expedited laboratory turnaround times
- Continued review and optimization of water quality management protocols
We remain committed to providing safe, high-quality drinking water and to keeping residents informed.
