[ARCHIVED] Curbside Collection Winter Guidelines

Winter Collection Guidelines

Hey Cowichan,

Do you know how to correctly space your tote for successful winter-weather collection?

Automated collection vehicles require at least one metre (three feet) of clearance on all sides to collect your garbage and recycling effectively. During winter weather events, this includes making clearance for snowbanks and other debris. For safety reasons, please do not place your totes on a snowbank or in the roadway; residents are responsible for clearing snow around their totes.

If your collection is missed due to winter conditions or other inclement weather, please hold onto your material until your next collection day, when drivers will collect extra materials in clearly labelled containers, or bring it to a CVRD Recycling Centre.

Please call the Recycling Hotline at 250.746.2540 or 1.800.665.3955 or email curbside@cvrd.bc.ca if you have any questions.
