[ARCHIVED] Temporary Meade Creek Recycling Centre Now Open

Temporary Meade Creek Recycling Centre Now Open

Duncan, BC- Meade Creek Recycling Centre upgrades and remediation project is underway. As of May 2 the facility, located at 8875 Youbou Rd., Youbou, has closed for the duration of construction. Construction of the project is anticipated to start in July 2017.

A temporary facility located at 8800 North Shore Road, Lake Cowichan is open to facilitate all garbage and recycling needs for the community. The temporary site offers the same recycling and garbage drop off services, and has the same hours of operation.

The construction will upgrade the facility to current environmental and safety standards. This includes remediation of ash that remains on site from the garbage incinerator that operated here from the 1970s to 1990s. The new facility will also offer more recycling options including a free store, 13 recycling bays and two garbage bays. Construction is scheduled to finish in Spring 2018.
