The Chris Fenton Memorial Tournament was created in honour of Dr. Fenton's son's tragic passing in 1985. Chris was an active member of Chemainus and District Baseball as an umpire. We still have his umpire gear memorialized in our ump room. This event brings teams from all over the island and the lower mainland to complete for 1st place. It gives our local youth the opportunity to play against other teams they wouldn't normally have the chance to in their regular season. It also gives the opportunity for our youth umpires to learn in a different manner with more teams and different players, all the while being mentored by our senior umpires that come from all over the island. The most important aspect however, is the time spent and the memories created for all the youth that attend this event be it player, umpire, coach or fan.
