Pickleball Infrastructure Project 2021

Pickleball

Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in North America and has been recognized as a low-impact sport that fosters social connections. The sport is very popular with populations 55+ in age. 42% of the CVRD’s population falls into this category and it’s anticipated to grow an additional 34% over the next 10 years.

The Kerry Park Recreation Commission and CVRD Board have committed to build a new Pickleball complex adjacent to the Kerry Park Recreation Centre in order to help meet the growing demand for this sport. The facility will include a new 6 court play area, parking lot, 2 stall male and female washroom facility and walking path that will connect to existing trails surrounding the property. The CVRD has received $550,000 through the Province of British Columbia’s Community Economic Resilience stream under the Community Economic Recovery Infrastructure Program to help complete this project. Construction is anticipated to begin in the summer/fall of 2021.
