Mesachie Lake sewer system is located in the community of Mesachie Lake in Area F and services 49 residential properties.

System Overview

Mesachie Lake Sewer System was built in the 1940's by Hillcrest Logging Company to support houses built for its workers and their families. Despite the age of the system, and its primitive design, the system continues to function, but is badly in need of upgrades.

To bring the system up to modern day standards, and to comply with the Ministry of Environment’s regulations, the system requires upgrades to all parts of the system.

Current year budget information can be viewed here.

Sewer Upgrade Project

A $1.23 million upgrade, funded by an infrastructure grant for Phase 1 of the Mesachie Lake Sewer System Upgrade Project is completed. Works completed in Phase 1 include: new disposal fields located south-east of Honeymoon Bay, the construction of two pump stations and a pressurized sewer main to transport the sewage from the existing septic tanks to the new disposal fields. Additional works are budgeted in 2023/24, funded by Community Works Gas Tax and include a collection system and treatment.
