Community Cafés aim to explore housing needs with an emphasis on those most impacted by housing challenges. These workshops will allowed us to assemble a group of organization representatives that brought diverse perspectives relating to one of the themes we would like to explore through our engagement. A Community Café is a small (8-12 participants), (in this instance) virtual, facilitated meeting designed to share information, encourage the exchange of ideas between participants and surface ideas on housing needs focused on one of three specific housing themes.
The following three themes have been identified as the focus of these Community Cafés:
1) Housing and health
2) Housing and youth and families
3) Housing and the economy
How were they hosted? What is a Miro Board?: Workshops were hosted virtually on the video conferencing platform Zoom in conjunction with the use of the virtual collaboration tool (Miro). Participants were invited to share their thoughts on digital sticky notes on a Miro Board (virtual white board).
