Hard Plastic Products

Hard plastics products include things like tupperware, small plastic buckets, or plastic toys. Hard plastics products are not accepted in your curbside recycling totes. Hard plastics products that #2 can be brought to your local Recycling Centre or Depot.

Purchase products like metal or glass food containers that will not deteriorate or break as easily. Hand wash and reuse plastic drink cups. 


Reuse products until the end of their usable life. Sell or give away products in working condition to friends or family. When buying, look for individuals selling in your community.


Only the hard plastic items listed here are accepted in curbside recycling. These items have one thing in common: they are all 'packaging'.

Hard plastic 'products' are not accepted in curbside recycling (ex. tupperware, lawn chairs, plastic totes), but if they are stamped with a  #2 symbol, they are accepted at CVRD Recycling Centres. Learn more about items accepted at recycling centres here.
